Raven's Knife by Solvash Raven's Knife by Solvash
This is Raven's Knife from the game Tales of Vesperia I made for my cosplay of him. I made it in a tanto-style. I figured it would make the most sense considering Raven's more Japanese aesthetic as compared to the rest of the characters.

This was pretty simple to make to be honest. It's made of mostly aspen wood (1/4 in. thickness for the blade and 1/2 thickness for the two halves of the hilt and sheath). The gold detail is made of styrene plastic. It was my first time using styrene like this, and it was difficult to work with using the glue I had and my lack of a heat gun. Hahahaha... The tassels were just a pair of curtain decorations I found at the fabric store. They're a little longer than I wanted them to be, but not too bad. The inside of the sheath is also lined with some fabric to protect the paint.

The blade was painted with two colors of metallic spraypaint while the sheath was colored with acrylic. Raven is also supposed to be a long-time traveler so I figured I'd try a little weathering on the blade to show that. It's not too great...but it was my first serious try at it. Everything was then clear coated with some Future Floor Acrylic, also my first time using the stuff.

Enjoy~

Overall length with sheath: 14.5
Blade length: 8.5
Hilt Length: 5.5

Very nice work! I like the wear on the blade, it adds character to the weapon.
A fabric lined sheath? Fancy... :iconfancyplz:

Ah, well, not quite... It's probably difficult to tell due to the lack of any reference of scale, this is more of a tanto style of blade. It's really only about 8.5 inches long, or about 21 cm. The average kodachi is about 24 inches, or about 60 cm.
I probably should have mentioned the length and style in the description to prevent any confusion. ^^; But thank you for the favorite. =)
