Howling Moon Wand by Solvash Howling Moon Wand by Solvash
Alright, so this is the first in a long line of prop projects that I will be uploading. Even those this my first prop deviation...it is not my first prop. I'll upload that later when I find the right pic.

Anyway...This is a wand I made for a friend as a christmas gift along with another wand for her sister. (Which will be another deviation when I get the pic.) I called it the Howling moon wand and it came with a card which read:
Wood: Aspen (Stained)
Length: 11 inches
Core: Mooncalf Hair, Werewolf Claw (Sup.)
Desc.: An interesting creation inspired by moon and wolf lore. Wand cores chosen to stabilize each other. Excellent for Transfiguration and Charm casting.

And yes, it is based on Harry Potter wand lore, although it doesn't really look like a conventional Harry Potter wand.

In any case, the whole thing was carved from one solid piece of aspen using a dremel and some hand files. I then stained it, while using painter's tape to seal off the moon section. Then it was covered with a coat or two of finish. Oh, and the claw is also aspen which was applied with finish.

Other wands:
Spiral Shot
Unbound

Unfortunately, I'm busy with other projects...
But if you have some basic tools you can easily make your own wands! =)
Just buy some wood, stain, and some kind of sealer from your local hardware store like Home Depot or Lowes you can make your own wand!
(Alternatively, you can even modify a dowel or even a chopstick with some hotglue and paint!)

Wands are pretty simple so I'm sure you can do it. ;)

Actually the wand probably took me a day max. Staining and applying finish however...THAT took up some time.
